Hi. I’m Elizabeth Hernandez and I'm running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives—Texas 8th District. I want to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about my campaign for Congress. I grew up in Texas and graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena. Since graduating from high school, I have worked in the Accounting Departments for several different companies across Texas, raised my 3 children, Mackenzie, Brayden and Lyla, and worked to pursue my Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
I have nearly 20 years working in Accounting. One thing that I noticed as a result of my education and experience in Accounting was that, particularly when it comes to economic issues, politicians will say one thing, and then do another. For example, as the national debt has increased over years, to over $23 trillion that it is today, we have heard many politicians promise to “run the country like a business” and get the debt down. Yet, when elected, they bow to their special interest campaign donors, forget their campaign promises and the debt continues to increase.
For some reason, we stopped holding politicians accountable for their broken promises. As a result, the problem has become far worse, and all we are given are empty promises, excuses and finger pointing. All talk and no action. Well, I’m tired of it. I’m running for Congress to do something about it. And I want to earn your vote. So, please follow my campaign and I will offer you specific ideas of what I plan to do in Congress to address the issues we face. I’m confident that as you track my campaign, you will find that my ideas elevate my candidacy above that of my opponent in both the Democratic Primary, and the general election in November. In addition, through social media and town hall events, I would like to have have regular dialogue with voters so that we can discuss the issues, and I can obtain feedback on my plan in Congress.
So, please join the movement to take back TX-8! And remember that the Democratic Primary is on MARCH 3. Mark your calendar accordingly and Vote for Liz!
